Cyfac

Cyfac is a small team of bicycle craftsmen in the Loire Valley region of France, just a quick one-hour trip from Paris on the high speed TGV train. Their history is filled with supplying custom metal alloy frames to the most famous of the Pro Tour riders in Europe over the past few decades, but with the advent of carbon fiber they quickly added this material to their repertoire.

The frames coming from Cyfac are among our very favorite, and they are underrated due to the company’s small size and limited marketing budget. The company is focused on quality and design, and are happy to stay true to what they believe instead of expanding rapidly and losing control of who they are. We are proud to be the exclusive Cyfac dealer for Washington State.

The Cyfac signature ride quality for their carbon frames is smooth and controlled, very much like the best titanium and steel models but with the nimble handling that carbon offers. They seem to carve around corners at speed, and are nicely responsive when sprinting or climbing. These aren’t all-out race performance machines, but that’s simply not the point.

Custom geometry and paint options are available for most models, please ask us for more details.

A Cyfac is the right bike for you when:

  • You value impeccable hand-made craftsmanship above a mass-market brand name
  • You want to customize your frame size or paint colors
  • You want a smooth ride quality that doesn’t mask the nuances of the road

Absolu

The Absolu is the statement piece from the Cyfac workshop, showing that they can produce a high performance frame that is on par with any of the large European design houses. It has all the signature smoothness of the Cyfac line, but with a more responsive performance that elevates this into the uber-bike category. It is rock-solid at high speeds, corners like it is on rails, climbs like there’s nothing underneath you, and does it all with a surprising finesse. This bike exhudes pure energy and enthusiasm.

The construction of the Absolu is monocoque with an integrated seatmast. The shaped carbon tubes and fine hand painted details are simply stunning when you see them up close. Even the Cyfac-designed fork is matched for both performance and aesthetics – Cyfac have cut no corners with this frameset. This frame weighs a mere 1100g and is easily capable of being part of a sub-15 pound complete build. Coupled with its performance abilities, this bike truly highlights small nuances in components and will reward careful matching.

Gothica

The Gothica CS (cyclosportif) features a more relaxed upright geometry for longer distance or more casual riding. As it uses the same materials and construction techniques as the Absolu the ride quality is crisp and exhilirating, but the Gothica CS is tuned more for comfort than performance.

We have long been fans of the Gothica family of bikes, with their silky performance that makes riding them a pure pleasure. The new CS shares this ethos, but brings it to a new level through the trickle-down technology from the Absolu. Note that it is unfair to look at this bicycle as the lesser sibling of the Absolu because of the price difference, rather it is simply designed for a different goal and is priced lower due to the omission of the integrated seatmast.

Upgrades Available: Custom Paint ($400)
Recommended Build Kit: Campagnolo Chorus 11 gruppo with 3T Team components, Campagnolo Zonda wheels

Cadence

The Cadence is the entry point to the Cyfac family. Using lugged carbon, the Cadence provides a refined ride that completely escapes most bikes in the sub-$6,000 price range. It has the Cyfac feel but at a lower price range, and is a perfect choice for riders who want to step up to a balanced performer with a more luxurious and comfortable ride.

We sometimes hear customers comment that lugged carbon construction is antiquated or out of date, but we believe it is just another completely valid construction method and the quality of the ride should be the primary judging factor. The Cadence definitely delivers on that aspect, and holds its own against luxury frames costing far more.
